Meaning: Swahili for "hay, grass"

Description: Nyasi is a burnt yellow/gold lioness, with a lean structure. Her underbelly is a soft peach (leaning towards faded gold), while her darker markings are a dusty brown. There are two characterizing features about Nyasi; one is the mole-like marking on her right cheek, which is a dark, warm brown. The same color is splotched across her right hind leg, in a rectangle-ish type of pattern. Her eyebrows are also the same color as these markings, as is her tail fluff. Her eyes are a gray-blue, shaped by a light yellow sclera. Little else distinguishes Nyasi from the other lionesses, save for a fluff of golden fur on top of her head, or the tufts of fur inside her ears. Her snout, toes, and lower eye are all the same color as her underbelly.

Her body structure isn't special either; she's of normal weight, strength, speed, and build. The only difference is that she had stopped growing at her adolescent stage, remaining slightly smaller than the other lionesses for the rest of her life.

History: Nyasi was the first-born of her family, one of many cubs that season. Aside from the fact that she was very, very small, nothing distinguished her from the other cubs of her family's pride. She took to jabbering, even nonsense, to get more attention from the adult lionesses and other cubs. This action was somewhat useless, however, since as a small cub Nyasi was very dependent on her mother and father, crying if she was without them for prolonged periods of time.

When she was a few months old, her mother gave birth again, to a daughter. Sadly, the cub was stillborn, and Nyasi's family spiraled into a depression that her mother, Mpenzi, never truly recovered from.

It was a few months after Kubwa's death that Mpenzi gave birth again, this time to a son, Tatu. He was frail, and small like his older sister had been, but strong in will; and in a short time he was flopping around with the other cubs, looking to his older sister for guidance. Which Nyasi provided; in the form of words. Tatu uttered barely a syllable for the first few months of his life, relying instead on Nyasi to speak for him. During this time, Nyasi spent most of her time with the other male cubs, preferring their company more than the females.

It was only when his sister grew into adolescence that Tatu gathered the courage to speak, and although still shy, he developed a separate social life on his own.

Nyasi, upon her brother's separation from her, took to spending more time with the other adolescent females, rather than the males. She started to learn how to hunt, and became an excellent tracker, although her clumsiness causes her to slip up while sneaking up on her prey. Now, the young lioness has decided to leave her family's pride in search of her own, establishing her identity.
